Your newborn session is designed to be calm, unhurried, and completely babyled. There is no pressure to keep a schedule or worry if your little one needs extra time. We take breaks for feeding, cuddling, and soothing as needed while creating a beautiful variety of portraits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

The ideal time for a traditional posed newborn session is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are typically very sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet newborn poses. However, every baby is different, and beautiful portraits can still be created beyond this window.

For babies who are a little older, I also offer Early Expressions sessions designed for babies approximately 4–10 weeks old. These sessions celebrate your baby’s growing personality, eye contact, stretches, and sweet little expressions.

What if my baby cries during the session?

That’s completely normal! Newborn sessions are designed around your baby’s needs, not a strict schedule. We take our time with feeding, rocking, soothing, and breaks whenever your baby needs them.

There is no expectation for your baby to be perfectly asleep the entire time. Some of the sweetest moments happen during those quiet pauses, snuggles, and little expressions in between.

Do you provide props, wraps, and outfits?

Yes! My studio is fully stocked with a carefully curated collection of wraps, blankets, props, and newborn outfits. I provide everything needed for your baby’s portraits, and we will choose colors and styles that complement your family and create a beautiful, timeless gallery.

Can siblings and parents be photographed?

Absolutely! Your baby’s arrival is a family milestone, and those first connections are just as important to preserve. Parent and sibling portraits are included in select newborn packages, with gentle guidance to help create natural, heartfelt images.

What if my baby arrives early or late?

That’s very common! Babies rarely follow their due dates, which is why I reserve newborn sessions based on your expected due date rather than a specific calendar day.

Once your baby arrives, we will finalize your session date based on their arrival and my studio availability. If your baby arrives early or spends time in the NICU, please reach out — we can adjust the timing and create a session that works best for your baby.

How long does a newborn session take?

Newborn sessions are typically scheduled for approximately 1-2 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and creating a variety of beautiful portraits without rushing.

Every baby has their own pace, and my goal is to create a calm, relaxed experience for both baby and parents.

Where is your studio located?

My studio is located in Walden, NY, serving families throughout the Hudson Valley, including Orange, Ulster, and surrounding counties.

The studio provides a comfortable, private, and welcoming space where your baby can be photographed safely and beautifully, without the distractions of a busy public environment.
