What to expect ...

When sessions are scheduled back-to-back, I know this can sometimes feel stressful. Parents worry about feeling overwhelmed or rushed but please try not to stress. I leave a “buffer” of time between sessions in case we need a few extra minutes, to clean and sanitize the set between families, etc.

I know how important these portraits are to you. In my experience, this is the best way to schedule these sessions. (In fact, I generally tend to run ahead of schedule because this is plenty of time.) 😉

Tips to prepare...

DON’T OVER PLAN…

Nothing spoils a child’s mood faster than too much planning…

I know it’s tempting to get caught up in the perfect pinterest photos, but the best images happen when we’re not working off a checklist, allowing us to capture organic images that you’ll love.

LET GO & TRUST…

on the day of your session, it’s normal to be nervous (it means you care!) But the best way to love your portraits is to trust the process. Know that you’ve planned and prepared to the best of your ability, and now I’m here to take the reins and create family portraits that you’ll love.

EAT & SLEEP…

Be certain not to schedule your photo session around your child’s nap or bedtime and don’t arrive on an empty stomach. If your plan is to eat after the session, be sure to give everyone a healthy snack before the session. Everyone will be more focused and have more energy.

HAVE FUN!

Don’t be afraid to give the kids a hug or give your wife a sweet kiss on the cheek. Tell your husband how much you love him and appreciate him.

The best photographs are often the ones where everyone is engaged or interacting with each other.

Remember, not every picture needs to have everyone looking at the camera and smiling at the same time. These are the photographs that you will cherish the most because they show your family connection and love.
